He was the perfect gentleman, and my parents adored him. In time, I learned to adore him too. I married him. He was my forever.

Until the day he hit me.

Five years went by with the speed of a ticking clock, counting down my life one painful second at a time.

Until Danny. Danny saw me. Danny was my hero.

Danny was the one I was supposed to be with. But now I’m broken, shattered into pieces too jagged to fit back together. Isn’t that what fate is? Puzzles fit together by an unseen hand to form a life worth living. So when fate makes a mistake, who fixes it?

Review by Jamie: First off I would like to thank Brandace Morrow for my ARC I was given for an honest review.

This book CAN be read as a stand alone, but who wants to only get the full story when you want all the juicy details and gossip too right??!!

NOTE: This book has some graphic scenes of  domestic violence in it.

There are two kinds of men. Men who you take home to meet mom and dad and those you don’t. But what if they are one in the same? Jeremy is that two-faced man.  A Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde kind of guy. He charmed my parents right into their heart and they adored him for his hard work, devotion to me, and what our future looked like together. Never did they think in a million years this man that they called “son” would ever hurt their one and only little girl.

Five years after our “I do’s”, he did just that. He hurt me. He hit me. First it was a slap, but now it is worse. I keep a low profile and keep to my routine so he doesn’t get mad and hurt me more.  I cover my marks as best I can and I do a really good job to the outside world. However inside I am screaming at someone, anyone to rescue me.

One day at the gym, during my run, a man saw through me. He must have heard my internal screams over my iPod. He tried to talk to me. I just knew it was trap from Jeremy. I trust no one, especially with a dick!! If he thinks I am going to take a punch or a kick from Jeremy for his ass he is sadly mistaken. But something, a tiny little voice that is shaking and has been hidden deep inside of me for years says go for it. I listen to him talk and he wants to help me. He wants to free me. Save me from this monster whose last name I am marred with. But can I trust a man who calls himself Danny? Trust this man who may just lead me back into the arms of the monster? Shall I run by myself or let this man run with me?

Whether or not I choose to run one thing is for sure, I am going to be dead if I don’t. But if I’m caught, death will not come soon enough from his torturous pain he will put me through to kill me. I chose not life, not death, but fate. ~Kinley

This book is definitely a tear jerking, gut-wrenching, laughing from the heart kind of book. It is very well written, well organized, and the characters are so strong you just “know” them. This is a book I just couldn’t put down and definitely recommend to anyone. I mean I thought that I loved Fan Girl (book 1), but OMG WOW!!!

Book Trailer

With water to my neck, I turn the faucet off and can hear Danny splashing next door. “Are you done with your legs, too?” I ask him teasingly.

“Just finishing up the bikini area. Do you prefer a heart, or something a little more exotic?” he shoots right back, making me giggle.

“What does bottle five say for you?”

“Let’s see.” I hear glass clinking together. “It says . . . place on face for ten minutes. When dry, rinse off, and apply jar six. This is getting kind of ridiculous. I’ve never had to do this shit before,” Danny says.

“We’ll see what we look like when we’re done. My skin feels so smooth.”

“Yeah, mine too. I’m a facial away from losing my man card. Oh wait, that’s jar five. There it went, flying off to some well-deserving guy who’s eating a raw steak and roping a steer down the street. I may have to move to Mexico to get it back. How do you feel about matadors?”

I burst out laughing as I apply the goopy mess in my jar six to my face. “You can restore your card later. I’m sure there will be food to shovel and beer to belch.”

“You don’t get the man card credo. It’s an application process, Kinley. After all of these products, it could be months before I’m worthy again,” he explains.

“That’s terrible. I had no idea all it took was a few little jars.”

“Don’t underestimate the power of a good facial. I’m never living this down . . . I think this is avocado.”

“Are you eating it? Danny!” I yell through my laughter.

“It’s good fats, Kinley. Remember? Anyway, it’s all your fault,” Danny decides.

“How do you figure?”

“Well, I’m only in here to be close to you. This should show you how committed I am,” Danny informs me.

“Thank you for sacrificing your manhood to show me you care. That means a lot,” I joke.

I hear Danny sniff indignantly before he says, “As long as you value my surrender, it’s all worth it.”
